The Cure For 100 Degrees & Humid

This is my kids' version of the cure anyway. I have to say I agree with them. We are missing one child...my oldest doesn't like the heat and won't get out even to get in the pool. As soon as school got out, we changed into our bathing suits and rushed over to my sister's house where the cooling off began. I tried to get my oldest to come this time but he wasn't having any part of it. At the age of 13, I think he just enjoys hanging around the house with Grandma where it's quiet. Grandma stays in her room most of the time so he has the whole house to himself. I can't say that I really blame him...peace and quiet don't come along that often around here. He missed a lot of fun though. Except for some very eager bees and more than a few frogs, we had a blast. My sister is so afraid of the frogs...I've never seen her run so fast. My youngest daughter loves them and she is our "Frog Whisperer". She is in charge of rounding em up and sending them back into the grass. lol

I always take some knitting along though for breaks. I've started another of Mandy's Candy Bags. My sister wants one to give to someone she works with. I've been taking it along so she can see it "come to life". I will post photos when I get it finished. This one is done in a variegated but it isn't the striping yarn this time. I'm also thinking of changing it up a little so it doesn't look exactly like the other one. Although she isn't a knitter and would never know the difference. lol

This is my nephew again. It's been a little while since I posted a photo of him...he's so cute. He gets his Mommy in the pool every day he can. Can you tell he likes having his picture taken? He's a ham! I couldn't leave him out. He jumps in the pool too...just in the shallow end with Mommy waiting to catch him. I don't think it will be long before he is totally over his fear. He had a good time watching the big kids jump.

When I turned around to look behind me so I could safely back out of my sister's drive-way, this is what caught my eye. I had to take a photo...I do this randomly as the urge strikes (whenever I can remember to take my camera with me). lol I really don't think the photo captured what I was seeing but it was so pretty with the sun setting behind the trees.

Party Time

Today has been a long one. We had my oldest daughter's birthday party today. She wanted a pool party and since it was her "Sweet Sixteen", we gave in. Man, what a lot of work. It was worth it though. I think everyone had a good time and she even let us old folks hang around.

This is the birthday girl. One of the girls was doing cartwheels off the diving board so Megan wanted to give it a try....wish you could have seen that. It was so funny. She was scared to try and everytime she moved her foot to go, she would stop and squeal. She wasn't even jumping yet. She finally did but I think it took her 10 minutes to get the courage to just do it. She's such a girly girl.

This is the baby of the family who is fearless and jumped right up on the diving board and did her cartwheel like it's something she does every day. When the boys got too rough and ran the girly girls off...this one didn't budge. She fits in anywhere.

Here's the boys. Looks like they're plotting something and they probably are. That's what boys do isn't it? If you look in the background, you'll see that fearless one again. LOL

The grand finale.....her Dad brought fireworks to finish off the party. I'm so glad I got a shot of the first one. My 2 1/2 year old nephew is absolutely terrified of them so they had to stop. He went inside and refused to come back out after this. The party was ending at this point so he didn't miss the fun.
Now I'm off to bed....seems like this day has lasted forever. We're all exhausted and aside from my youngest son, I'm the only one still left awake. He's proof reading as I type and it's a good thing as he's already caught several mistakes. :) Thanks for checking in...always nice to have visitors.

Pool Party and Firetruck Dishcloth

Yesterday, we went to my sister's house to cook out and break in the pool. They recently bought a house and the pool was in desperate need of a good cleaning. They had to get a professional to do the job but it's good to go now. They invited us over to let the kids check it out and they had a blast! I wish I had gotten more pictures but my camera batteries died. Never fails. We did discover that all of them but my little nephew can swim. He's only 2 but I don't think it will be long before he's swimming like a fish. He loves the water. The picture above is my youngest daughter...this is what she did constantly.

This is my youngest son. He couldn't wait to get on the diving board. I made him suffer for a while then put him through a "swimming test" before I said "Okay, go get on the board". He lit up and took off! I will get more photos next time. My oldest son didn't even want to go and refused to get in the pool. We finally got Dad to just throw him in. He ended up having fun and discovered that he could swim. They can't wait to go back.

I couldn't leave my little nephew out...he's just too cute. This is Killian (otherwise known as Boogie). He had to get out early because it was a little cold and his teeth were chattering. He was a pretty good sport about it though. Isn't he cute? BTW...my brother-in-law makes some seriously good bratwurst.

This is my newest dishcloth design for sale. You can find it in the usual place. lol I've been kinda slow designing lately. I think I have too much going on at one time.
