See...I Have Been Knitting...

This is the almost finished placemat. I still need to do the border for it. The border is going to be Hot Green and then I'm going to do more placemats with the green in place of the blue and use blue for border. I hope that made sense. :P

This is the little matching coaster. It also is waiting on a border. Half of these will be done like the placemats....switching the blue and green for a little variety.

And my Easy Cable Knit Hat is finished. I can't believe I knitted this hat in one day!! I've done cables before but only a few times and very small projects like dishcloths. This is a super easy cable pattern for beginning cable knitters. It's simple and easy to follow and knits up super fast!
The first photo is the true color. It was knitted in Bernat Softee Chunky in the color Too Purple.

This one looks more bluish but I had to show you the crown. It's my favorite thing about this pattern. I should have gone up a needle size or two since I am a tight knitter but I didn't. The result was a pretty small hat. It was pretty snug on Ms Thang's head. lol

I'm thinking I will make some hats for Christmas gifts. It's hard to find something for the men and they don't get too excited about getting dishcloths. :P I didn't think I could knit a hat so fast but now that I know I can....hats might be the way to go.

Anyone know of a nice cable hat knit in the round. I hate seams!!!
*off to hunt for patterns*

Update And Upcoming Contests

First off, if you haven't visited Confessions of an Apron Queen then now is the time. In October, she is having tons of giveaways. The prizes include...not only aprons but valuable coupons and gift shopping cards. Be sure to check it out and make note of the dates or subscribe so you won't miss a thing.

Nothing new is going on around here really. I have done some knitting but I haven't gotten photos yet. I will get those up soon. I finished my placemat and matching coaster from a KAL in our Yahoo group...Shirley's Knitting Knook. We started out as a dishcloth KAL group but have since decided to not only do our dishcloths but other small knits as well. Right now, we're in the midst of doing kitchen KALS. Lots of nice little knits to spruce up the kitchen. We're planning on knitting our way around the house. :P

Just for fun, we're all knitting the same hat. It's the Easy Cable Knit Hat. It's not a KAL so much as we're just printing out the pattern and doing it at the same time so we can help the ones who might need some assistance. I already lost a stitch and had to frog back a bit but I'm back on track and hope to be finished tomorrow.

Otherwise, just enjoying the cooler weather and the little bit of rain we're getting right now. I so love the fall. It's my favorite time of year. :)

If any of you are on Plurk...it's my newest fun thing to do. Feel free to friend me.... lilknitter of course.

Hope everyone is having an awesome weekend!!! HUGS!

Blog Awards

I haven't been blogging as much lately. I seem to have gotten behind on everything again. Now I'm playing catch up on my blog reading...think I got that taken care of. Today the weather has been so nice...it's only 66 degrees F right now. The wind has been blowing...it's kinda cool. Man, I love this time of year. Summer is nice but HOT is not my favorite. :P

I received two "I Love Your Blog" awards. *blushing* I love my online friends!!! I'm supposed to tag more friends and pass them along but I know some folks don't care much for tagging. So...I'm bending the rules. It's so hard to pick on a few blog I love so I've decided....If you're reading my blog right now...You're the recipient of both of these awards. Grab them and post them on your blog if you wish. I love everyone who takes the time to read my blog. :)

This one I received from Sandy who is super nice. She knits and crochets so I like to visit and see what she's up to. She does a lot of charity knitting and crochet so there's always something to see. Pop over and say hi!

This one is from Tea who did the same with this award and passed it out to everyone. If you haven't seen her blog...which would be a surprise to me....you really gotta check her out. She is a lot of fun and has tons of pretty pictures and projects to see.

Thanks to all who take the time to visit and don't forget to take these awards with you. It's my way saying thanks. Leave me a little comment so if I don't already visit your blog...I can now. :)

Quick Update

Sorry for the delay in updating. I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who offered prayers for Chante. She went to the specialist and thankfully she is now feeling better. She still had some of the effects of the tick fever and also had a severe sinus infection. They also learned that she is anemic. She is taking her meds and recovering and is feeling a lot better. Thank you for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers.

I also wanted to remind everyone to send out those prayers for those who lost loved ones on 9/11. Remember those who lost their lives and all the heroes involved in the aftermath of that tragedy. It has been 7 years today. This is a good time to count our blessings and appreciate the things that we take for granted everyday. Don't forget to tell the ones you love how much they mean to you.

Love and hugs to all my friends and family.

Prayers Needed....

This is Chante...Shirl's sweet little granddaughter. She has been very sick after having been bitten by a tick. She seemed to be doing better until today. Shirl says she has spiked a very high fever (104 F) and she is lethargic. They live in South Africa and there isn't a pediatrician close by. It's a long drive to the doctor where she will be going first thing in the morning. We take so much for granted here...think of how you would feel if this were your child and you couldn't jump in the car and rush to the doctor's office. We're all very worried about her and I want to ask those of you who will to pray for her. She's such a sweet little girl and as sick as she is...she's worried about missing more school. Please....say a little prayer to keep her safe until they can get her to the doctor.

*Chante...Aunty Mel is thinking of you and sending you lots of hugs! Lief jou baie!*

Trying Something New....

I have decided I am ready to venture on to something new and a little challenging for me. Of course, this is when my head decides it's time for a migraine. I've spent the last 3 days dealing with that....talk about bad timing...and on a weekend. Grrr! I finally feel semi-normal again.

This is what I have managed to accomplish when the light isn't so bright and wearing my sunglasses. :P I am knitting my first real raglan sweater. It's a baby sweater but I figured I'd start out small just to get the "mechanics" of how it's done. I have to say...once again...not as hard as I had imagined. I love the way the sleeves look with the increases...so neat.

This is my youngest daughter's nearly naked doll modeling the sweater. She is the reason I started the sweater...she seriously needs some clothes. :P I refuse to have a porn star doll around here. She is getting dressed ASAP. lol I managed to get a good bit done today since my head is feeling better so I'm now at the point of joining the sweater sides and putting the sleeve stitches aside. If I can get this part right...the sweater should turn out okay I think. I'm using a skein of Omega Sinfonia...not sure of the color since the band is long gone. I think this is a skein Froggie threw my way.

Before I go off to knit some more....check out this contest! Christy is having a "For The Fun Of Knit" contest on her blog. Just leave a comment. She's so funny and I love her Weekly Warnings. If you've never read them....go back through her blog and check them out...they are hilarious! Sorry, Christy...I know some of them are funny at your expense but you know I love ya!

Okay..back to my sweater. I really want to call this one an FO soon. :)
Hugs!

A Few Good Finds.

I had a few things I needed to get done today and Froggie was off work so we decided to do our errands together and maybe hit a thrift store or two. We picked a good day for it. I picked up some nice little treasures today.

These are 4 of the 5 aprons I snagged today. My favorite is the one the on far right. They all look vintage with the exception of the one at the bottom. It's not a very pretty fabric but it's cute once you get it all tied up. I'll have to get Ms Thang to model it properly in the daylight.

I also got lucky with some fabric. None of them are really big pieces but each one is plenty big enough for a small bag or other small project. I'm still in the practicing stages so I don't need anything big at this point.

I definitely see this as a small tote bag. I love the print. It has a serious country feel to it and I couldn't resist. I paid $1.00 or less for every one of them. I love a bargain. :P

I have absolutely no earthly idea what I will do with these. I found two of these little handkerchiefs in mint condition...except for the creases. They're so pretty and they satisfy my love of vintage so of course I grabbed them, too. Any ideas on what to do with them?

One more little goodie...not sure if this one is a handkerchief or a scarf but it was too cute to pass up. I loved the little strawberry design and not until I got home and inspected everything did I see the cute little snails. Another one that I have no idea what to do with. For a whopping 25 cents...it was worth snagging. :)

This is the other apron I got today and then decided to give to Froggie. She loves green (frogs) and I thought she should have this one since it's such a pretty shade of green. I'm also thinking maybe she'll get the "apron bug" too if I force this one on her. :P It has green apples on the pocket and the price tag still attached. She was crazy....I mean...NICE enough to model it while waiting for school to let out.

Big Thanks! to Froggie for the sewing goodies she brought me today. I'll post photos soon. She gave me and my Mom a ton of sewing stuff she had from her family members...the cases and all! I was pretty shocked that she meant for us to keep it. Thanks, Froggie. That was a super, awesome thing for you to do!!

I'm off to go digging through all the dewing stuff....I have no idea what she's got in there.

Hugs!
