A Few Good Finds.

I had a few things I needed to get done today and Froggie was off work so we decided to do our errands together and maybe hit a thrift store or two. We picked a good day for it. I picked up some nice little treasures today.

These are 4 of the 5 aprons I snagged today. My favorite is the one the on far right. They all look vintage with the exception of the one at the bottom. It's not a very pretty fabric but it's cute once you get it all tied up. I'll have to get Ms Thang to model it properly in the daylight.

I also got lucky with some fabric. None of them are really big pieces but each one is plenty big enough for a small bag or other small project. I'm still in the practicing stages so I don't need anything big at this point.

I definitely see this as a small tote bag. I love the print. It has a serious country feel to it and I couldn't resist. I paid $1.00 or less for every one of them. I love a bargain. :P

I have absolutely no earthly idea what I will do with these. I found two of these little handkerchiefs in mint condition...except for the creases. They're so pretty and they satisfy my love of vintage so of course I grabbed them, too. Any ideas on what to do with them?

One more little goodie...not sure if this one is a handkerchief or a scarf but it was too cute to pass up. I loved the little strawberry design and not until I got home and inspected everything did I see the cute little snails. Another one that I have no idea what to do with. For a whopping 25 cents...it was worth snagging. :)

This is the other apron I got today and then decided to give to Froggie. She loves green (frogs) and I thought she should have this one since it's such a pretty shade of green. I'm also thinking maybe she'll get the "apron bug" too if I force this one on her. :P It has green apples on the pocket and the price tag still attached. She was crazy....I mean...NICE enough to model it while waiting for school to let out.

Big Thanks! to Froggie for the sewing goodies she brought me today. I'll post photos soon. She gave me and my Mom a ton of sewing stuff she had from her family members...the cases and all! I was pretty shocked that she meant for us to keep it. Thanks, Froggie. That was a super, awesome thing for you to do!!

I'm off to go digging through all the dewing stuff....I have no idea what she's got in there.

Hugs!

My First Sewing Project

As promised...a day late....my "new" sewing machine and my first sewing project. First off...my cute little machine. I have him in his own little corner with enough space to do my small projects. If I ever get brave enough to try something big...we got problems. :P

I really like that it's smaller than most machines I've seen. It doesn't take up as much room which is good because I don't have lots of room to spare with a house full of kids. lol I haven't played around with all the settings yet. There are so many different stitches to try still.

Some photos of my first project. It's a little bag with a wrist strap. It's not quite finished yet since I need a zipper and the one I had was much too big. I'm going to try to get one today that will fit so I can get it done.

Here's a photo of the lining. I am so excited. I lined a bag! How awesome is that!? Lucky for me, I have my Mom close by to yell for help if I need it. She made sure I understood what I was going to do but she told me she was leaving me to it unless I called for help. The best way to learn is to do it yourself. Trust me....come zipper time...I will be yelling for help. :P

I even did the square bottom on my bag! It's a bit crooked on one side but I'm still proud of it. Not too shabby for a first time bag maker I don't think. I think it kinda looks like one of those brown paper sacks.

I have a pattern printed out to make bags from old pillowcases and I want to try that one next. I need to go thrift store shopping and see if I can find some decent pillowcases. Hopefully I'll find some cute prints or bright colors to play around with. Recycling is a good thing. I don't know how good I'll get with it but I think I'm gonna like this sewing thing. :)

Now, I gotta go finish a little bag I'm knitting and get the little man's pool/beach bag done. He goes to the beach next month so he's going to be needing it.

Hugs!
